Pregnancy Week 37

Baby Size : A 3.1kg watermelon

By the time you are reading this, I am probably at home resting and mentally preparing myself on what is to come in a week or two time.

Excited? YES
Nervous? YES

What is more nervewrecking than knowing the fact that you will be straddled to a makeshift hospital bed to deliver a human life, which according to my many sources, is one heck of a painful (and curse inducing) but of utmost gratifying experience?
Okay, maybe waiting for the SPR to announce which side is to form the new government at 4am in the morning makes you more jumpy, but hey, let's just agree to disagree.

So, as scheduled, I went to have my bi-monthly checkup yesterday at KPJ Ampang Puteri, and as I may have mentioned in my previous posts, my gynae is this jolly 50-ish year old woman in the name of Dr. Fauziah, who somewhat resembled our current TPM, Dr. Wan Azizah, and has this pleasant demeanour about her. Although at times, she gives me the chills when she kept saying that my baby is too huge for my petite body (she calls my 76kg body petite, you guys, what a revelation!) and I may need to go for a c-sect.

But let's not talk about her today.

I just want to talk about this welled up emotion that I feel surging inside of me everytime I looked at the screen when she (Dr. Fauziah) showed me how baby Ibby is doing.

Yesterday, out of curiousity, I asked if I can see the 3D scans of how my baby was doing. Usually when you are in your 30-ish weeks, it will be quite difficult for you to get a clear picture of your baby. The baby is taking up alot of space in your belly and is usually in a position that has his/her face shielded by those cute legs or hands.

But mama can't have that, no? I want to see my baby! I demanded silently.

And as if sensing this venomous viper about to strike (or wail like a lunatic), Dr. Fauziah immediately pulled the 3D screen up. Ahh, the miraculous device technology has invented.

Out popped Ibby's chubby cheeks and pudgy little fingers in front of our eyes. I go awwwww.... isn't he the cutest thing? My husband looked happy, but as always, he wanted to look like the cool dad (even when he is not, he keeps gushing about the baby on our way home).
